The Pumpkin Patch (Finally!)

I'm finally getting around to blogging about when we went to the pumpkin patch 2 weeks ago.

We were blessed by a beautiful day that started off cooler, but ended up being so nice. It was so windy all week leading up to when we had planned to go that we were a little bit afraid that it was going to be cold. Thankfully it got up to the mid 60's and was glorious.

The first thing we did when we got in was go and see the goats. Evelyn was so intrigued. She even got brave at the end and would stick her fingers through the fence and pet their noses. It was pretty adorable.

It was a very busy day at the pumpkin patch. It had been the first weekend with good weather since it opened for the season and lots of people were taking advantage of that. Thankfully we got there early so we were leaving before the worst of the crowds.

A lot of the stuff Evelyn was still too little for, but we could tell she still had fun. Especially when it came time to share some cookies. She got chocolate everywhere, but boy did she love those cookies!

The last thing we did before we went home was ride the hayrack ride out to where they grow the pumpkins and pick one out. The line for the hayrack ride took a long time to get through, but it was worth it. Evelyn made friends with all the people around us. She loves saying "hi" and "bye" to everyone she meets.

All in all it was a super fun day. It's something I hope we can do every year. Making traditions with our little family is a lot of fun.

Did any of you make it to a pumpkin patch this fall? Tell me about it if you did!

Hopefully I'll be back here blogging about our halloween later this week! Have a good weekend ladies!

So...

I was planning to blog about our trip to the pumpkin patch that we took 2 weeks ago. For some reason blogger is being weird and not letting me upload pictures at the moment. A post of the pumpkin patch without pictures just wouldn't be the same. I guess it will have to wait till either later today or tomorrow.

I know I've been a bit MIA as of late. There is a reason. I'm not quite ready to share what that reason is yet, but I will be soon. Just bear with me for a little while longer.

I hope you all are doing well! Any exciting plans for Halloween?

Evelyn's 1st Birthday Party

Get ready for a lot of pictures!

This last Saturday we had Evelyn's 1st Birthday party. We just had a small party at home with mostly family and a few close friends. It was a pretty fun day. Evelyn got spoiled with lots of toys that make noise, which is a new thing for her, because we have been holding off on letting her have anything noisy for our own sanity.

Evelyn with her big Hippo that we gave her.

All the decor was based around a tablecloth that I got at a garage sale. (It's the one on the dessert table)  I made all the the desserts. We had cupcakes, dipped oreos and rice krispies. Everything else I bought at Sam's Club.

Evelyn wasn't so sure about everyone singing happy birthday to her and instead of trying to blow out her candle she tried to grab it. However she loved getting to eat a cupcake. She didn't let any of it go to waste. This wasn't her first time having cake, but it was her first time having frosting. Boy did she love it!

Evelyn has been all about her new toys. She hasn't played with anything else all weekend. She uses that ladybug racer (right) to get up onto furniture though, so I have to be on constant watch.

All in all it was a really good party. I think I over did it on the food, because we had quite a bit left over. Oh well, I'll know better for next time. The whole process exhausted me though! All I've wanted to do is sleep. Thankfully Nick had yesterday off so he helped get things back to normal around here, whatever that means.

Does your family have any special traditions for birthdays? I'd love to hear about them.

Hope you had a good weekend and that your week is starting off well!

Evelyn's 1st Causality

Well you can now award me the best mom award, because I officially rock!

If you couldn't tell that previous sentence is dripping with sarcasm!

Yesterday was a trying day for this momma. The morning was fine then Evelyn woke up from her morning nap. I was letting her play in the living room while I finished up something on the computer.

To tell you the truth I was probably just being lazy on the computer and not doing anything of consequence. Therein lies the root of the problem, but back to the story.

Now it's not as though the computer is far from the living room, because technically it's in the living room. So I was able to keep a decent eye on Evelyn or so I thought. She wasn't but ten feet away from me playing with her toys; I thought.

I started to hear some banging. I glanced over it seemed like nothing. Then I heard a louder bang I turned around and the lamp in the living room was precariously leaning against the window. I bolted up from my chair and ran to the lamp, but I was too late. About half way there it crashed to ground and the glass shade shattered into a million pieces ranging from bigger than my hand to as small as a pin head.

In less than 30 seconds our beautiful lamp went from this:

To this:

Believe me that picture does not give justice to how big of a mess it actually was. Thankfully Evelyn was fine so I put her in the highchair with something to drink and got to cleaning things up. After picking up all the big pieces I got out the vacuum and attempted to get all the tiny pieces. Unfortunately our vacuum doesn't work the best anymore so I was still finding little pieces after going over everything with a vacuum more than 5 times. I think I have it all cleaned up now though.

So it looks like we'll be looking for a new lamp sometime soon. We have another one in our dinning room area so that one will have to do for now. At least we got a long life out of that lamp. I think we've had it since we got married. It served us well.

In totally unrelated news we're having Chili and Cinnamon Rolls for dinner! Eating chili with cinnamon rolls is a Nebraska thing. I have yet to meet someone who eats them together who isn't from Nebraska or at least spent sometime in Nebraska. But I could never have chili without cinnamon rolls, it's just a must.

Have you ever had chili with cinnamon rolls? Or even heard of doing so?

It's Thursday everyone! One more day and then it's the weekend! Hope everyone is doing well!

Trying to Keep Up

How is it that September is almost over?!?

So things around here have been busy, hectic and all around tiring. Life has left little time for things like blogging. I'm just trying to keep up with the daily things that need to be kept up with and falling farther behind daily.

I have all these posts I want to do, but just no time or initiative to do them. I'm hoping that October is going to be an easier month to blog. We have much less going on once we make it through the 6th which is Evelyn's 1st birthday party.

These are the posts I'm trying to get out in October:

- Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen Reveal
- Evelyn's 1st Birthday Party
- 1st Trip to the Pumpkin Patch
- My Fall Decor

I'm sure there will end up being a few more.

Let me know how your September has been!
Hopefully you've been able to enjoy some cooler weather and other fun fall things!

Checking-In

It's been hard lately to find a moment to break away from daily life to find time to blog. In part is has to do with still trying to get things back to normal after our painting ""adventure" labor day weekend; I'm still trying to catch up with laundry! Some of it has to do with trying to plan and get things ready for Evelyn's birthday party which is a mere 3 weeks from this coming Saturday. In any case it seems that most of my posts lately have been checking-in sort of post. Oh well that's were we're at right now I guess.

-This little one is getting braver and braver. Still to scared to actually try and walk, but standing and doing various different things have become the norm.

-She also took her first big tumble this past week. We even ended up going to the doctor to make sure she was ok. Thankfully it was just a bump and even that was pretty much gone by the next morning.

-See that diaper box there. Well Evelyn decided to push it to the rocking chair and use it to hoist herself up there. Thankfully we noticed before anything bad happened. Now you see how she fell and got hurt. The girl is a climber!

-It's thankfully getting cooler around here. Cool enough that I'm evening drinking warm coffee sometimes; like now for instance. It also means we don't have to run our A/C. It gets so cool at night that I open the windows and as long as I make sure to close them before it gets too warm the next day the house stays nice and cool.

-We've been trying to spend as much time with this guy as possible! Since he had to work this last weekend we've only had evening to catch up, but that's better than nothing. Evelyn loves her daddy so much. She even waves and says, "Hi, Daddy" whenever he gets home from work. I can't get her to say "momma" to save my life.

-See that lovely embroidery hoop filled with beautiful vintage fabric and the word "beloved" embroidered on it. Well that my friends was made for me by my very special blog friend Gina. I have been oohing and awwing over her embroidery ever since she shared some pictures of it a few months back. She offered to make something for Evelyn's room and I just leapt at the idea. When it arrived in the mail I was so excited to put it on her wall I found a nail immediately. I think it fits her room perfectly. Thank you Gina!

Well there you have it friends. That's what I've been up to as of late. Tomorrow both Nick and I are getting out eyes checked so that means new glasses! I'm so excited. I'll be sure to share pictures once I have them.

Also I haven't forgotten about sharing pictures of our painting project. We still don't have chairs at our dining room table or in our living room. Once that happens expect a post devoted solely to our painting "adventure".

What have you all been up to lately? I'd love to hear from you!

Have a wonderful weekend!
