6 Months Old...Which Means More Shots

Evelyn is 6 months old today! Time has gone by so quickly. Just this last weekend she started pushing up to her knees when shes on the floor. Then yesterday she started pushing to her knees then rocking back and forth! She's going to be crawling in no time.

Well yesterday was her 6 month baby well check. Of course she got another huge round of shots. Two in each leg and one in her arm. :( All in all she dealt with the shots pretty well. No adverse side effects, no ridiculous fussiness.

That's us before her appointment. She was her usual happy self. She had no idea what she was in for.

Us wasting time before the doctor came in to see Evelyn. Since she's so mobile now she hated that I wouldn't let her get down and explore the floor. I tried, but she wouldn't stay on the blanket so I held her or let her lay on the examining table the whole time. She loves the camera though, so that used up a little of our wait time.

This is back at home after a failed afternoon nap. I'm pretty sure her legs and arm were really hurting her and it woke her up screaming just 30 minutes after going down. We still had 40 minutes till daddy got home. It was a long 40 minutes!

Nothing was making her happy at this point. Every time she was playing on the floor she would roll to her tummy and just cry because her arms hurt. So I broke down and gave her some baby tylenol. Which definitely helped. She was actually able to play around till dinner.

After dinner we played on Nick & I's bed. Which she loves because she can scoot all around without it hurting her knees. Her favorite thing is climbing over to Nick and pulling off his glasses. After a little while she scooted to where I was laying and cuddled up with me. She was so tired from not really having an afternoon nap. She was fighting sleeping like crazy!

Then finally she fell asleep! We cuddled for awhile till I woke her back up to do bedtime routine. I wish I got to cuddle with her more often, but she not much of a cuddler and never has been.

Last night she slept till 8am! Which is unheard of for her. It's usually 7am or more than likely 6am. That's the only redeeming quality of shots day.

I'm just glad her next check-up with include no shots! But it will mean she's 9 months old and I'm not going to be ready for that.

Praise the LORD!

Well blog friends we have had an amazing answer to prayer around here! Friday afternoon Nick was offered a job! Just a year shy of giving his two weeks notice at his last job.

The job in on Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. It's a civilian contract position though, so that's a major plus. That means if in 5 years when his contract with the Air National Guard is up he doesn't have to re-enlist if he doesn't want to. The only downside is that it's about an hour and fifteen minute commute everyday. Thankfully the car he drives doesn't get too bad of gas millage and we should be able to save up for an even more efficient one pretty quickly. I'm sort of bummed that he won't be home everyday till after 5, since I'm used to him being home by 4, but it's a small price to pay.

Thank you for all of you who kept us in your prayers! This all means that we can get the ball moving on our plan to be foster parents! Exciting things are happening around here.

Easter

So I have been working on this post almost all day. The internet on our laptop is being weird so I had to transfer everything over to our other computer. It took awhile, but finally I'm getting this up!

Our Easter was a busy one. We had church and 2 family meals. Which meant very little nap time for Evelyn, but it all ended up being ok.

We got all dressed up and headed to church at 8:20. We had a wonderful worship service that was backed full. Evelyn did great in the nursery, which is always a blessing.

Evelyn fell asleep on the way home from church so we just let her nap in her car seat till we had to head to my parents house at 11:30. We had a delicious lunch (Steak, Cheesy Potatoes, Deviled Eggs and Veggies. Yum!) with my parents, my grandpa, my sister, my brother-in-law and my niece Drew. After lunch Drew did an Easter egg hunt. I can't wait till next year when Evelyn can participate.

We hung out at my parents till about 4. Evelyn took a tiny nap somewhere in there. After that we ran home and then headed over to Nick's parents for dinner.

We had a wonderful dinner of all your traditional Easter dinner foods. It was Nick's parents, his sister and his Grandpa.

It was a great day of celebrating Christ's death & resurrection with our loved ones.

Now for the pictures!

Evelyn & I all dressed up for church.

Nick & Evelyn before church. Look at that smile!

Recognize the bunny? It's the one I got from Goodwill!

Rockin' & Rollin'

So my little one, Evelyn, is coming up on being 6 months next week. Well that being said she has become quite mobile in the last couple of months. It was honestly like a light switch. One day day she wasn't really rolling around and the next day she was rolling and scooting all over the place and getting into everything!

These are some of the silly places she has gotten herself into in the last week.

This was last Monday. Daddy was outside mowing and I was checking e-mails. I head Evelyn starting to fuss, but I thought it was just because she was done being on the floor. I turn around and I see her completely tangled and stuck underneath one of the chairs in the living room. I like any other mother didn't get her out right away. Instead I ran for the camera so I could show Nick when he came in.

Nick made fun of me and made mention of something we saw on Pinterest the night before. It was a sign that said "In case of fire, Exit building BEFORE tweeting about it." I told him that if it had been a real emergency I would of course taken care of the baby before thinking about a picture.

This happened Wednesday night. Evelyn was playing on the floor. She grabbed the edge of the blanket and rolled over while holding on to it, which led to her face being covered. We of course didn't help her out this time either, we just watched to see what would happen.

Well as you can see what happened was that she continued to roll around till pretty much her whole body was covered! Shortly after I took this picture I helped her escape, because she was getting frustrated. See I'm not that mean!

Well Evelyn didn't make it into the basket herself, but it's pretty cute none the less. I was putting away laundry and instead of dealing with her "helping" I let her sit in the basket. It kept her occupied long enough for me to get most of our laundry put away, which is saying a lot!

I also caught her playing with the curtains in the living room Wednesday during the day, but I only took a picture with my phone so I have no way of showing you.

While I must say I'm happy she can get around by herself, I'm kind sad she's growing so fast. I have the ability to actually accomplish things now, but I'm starting to get a taste of her not needing me anymore.

I'm really striving to take advantage of everyday while she's little and be cherishing her as a baby. It's hard sometimes, but I'm trying.

Friday's Letters

This is my first Friday Letters! Yay! I'm linking up with Ashley@Adventures of Newlyweds.

Dear Evelyn,
Stop growing up! You're already wearing some 9 month clothes and I don't like it! I'm really going to miss these times of you just wanting to be held and cuddled by your mommy. I'm already starting to want another baby, because you're getting so big! (And that's not cool with Daddy.) I know you can't stay little forever, but could you try?!

Dear Mom,
Thank you so much for being so amazing. I can't put into words how much I appreciate you. My appreciation grew by 100% once I had my own little one. You're an amazing mom and an amazing grandma. I love you!

Dear Hubby,
I can't believe it's been almost a year since you quit your job. I've been praying like crazy that they offer you a job with the company you had a 2nd interview with yesterday. God has been so good at providing for us and I know He is leading you to where He wants you!

Dear Heavenly Lord,
Today is Good Friday. Today is the day You had to turn Your back on Your only Son, because You couldn't bear to see Him bearing all of the world's sin on his shoulders. I'm so grateful for Your sacrifice. Having my own child now I can understand a tiny bit of what it must have been like. I know I couldn't have done that. I couldn't have loved the world despite their complete disobedience and sinful ways. I can't understand how You loved me enough to do that. But I am grateful, eternally grateful for the salvation You've given me! I long for the day I get to thank You face to face!

It Arrived!

So I ordered this book last Thursday from Amazon.

It came yesterday! I was so excited that it came so quickly.

I had been searching for a book to read and study through. After reading lots of reviews on Amazon I decided on this and also "Desiring God: Meditations for a Christian Hedonist" also by John Piper. I wasn't sure which one I was going to read first, but since this one is already here it wins. When I'm done reading I'll make sure to write a review.

Let me know if you've read either "This Momentary Marriage" or "Desiring God". I'd love to hear what you thought of them.
